Multi-Family Office Qualifications as an Accredited Investor or Qualified Purchaser:
According to the SEC, an Accredited Investor is: An individual with a net worth or joint net worth with a spouse or spousal equivalent of at least $1 million, not including the value of his or her primary residence. An individual who had income of more than $200,000 or joint income with the individual’s spouse or partner more than $300,000 in each of the two prior years and has a reasonable expectation of reaching the same income level in the current year. A corporation, partnership, LLC, trust, or non-profit organization within the meaning of Section501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code with total assets of more than $5 million. A business/entity/trust/LLC in which all equity owners are Accredited Investors. An individual in good standing who holds the FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) general securities representative (Series 7), state investment advisory representative (Series 65), or FINRA private securities offerings representative (Series 82) license.
According to the SEC, a Qualified Purchaser is:
An individual or family-owned business not formed for the specific purpose of acquiring the interest in the fund that owns $5,000,000 or more in investments*; A trust not formed for the specific purpose of acquiring the interest in the fund which is sponsored by and managed by qualified purchasers; An individual or entity not formed for the specific purpose of acquiring the interest in the fund which owns and invests at least $25,000,000 in investments (or someone who is acting on account of such a person); or An entity, of which each beneficial owner is a qualified purchaser. *Investments include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, and cash and cash sweep funds available for investment.
